(Norwich, CT) Up at 7.15. Bright day. Breakfasted at Wauregan House. Met Ed. Trumbull & his wife. Off at 8.45 for home. Met John T. Wait & Judge Hovey at cars. Wrote up diary. Home at 11.15. Read letters. Down to market before dinner. Took a nap of two hours in afternoon. Called at Father's. Out to Gen. Hawley's in evening. Had long talk about "Rings & Lobbyists". Wrote on Independent copy. Johnny called at the Collins. Retired at 11.
