Saturday, August 26, 1871

(Hartford) Up at 7.30. Mr. Camp called at door. Rainy morning. Downtown with Johnny. Talked with H. T. Sperry. Looked over papers in library. At 4.15 off for Waterbury. Almost too late for cars. Saw R. S. True on cars to Newington. Sam'l Coit on train, & Fletcher & family. Supped at Waterbury. Met Mr. Boardman & Mr. Owen. Off at 7 for Watertown. Thence with Mr. Coit to Bethlehem. Found Camps at Mr. Beecher's. Pleasant meeting. Retired with Charley at 10.45. Sent eleven S.S. letters and two others.
