(St. Louis & NY Route) Up at 6. Breakfasted at Bradford Junction. Wrote on items for Independent. Stopped at Columbus, Ohio, about 11am. Left with Kingsbury. Took train to Newark. Too late for palace car train. Telegraphed to Mr. Clement, sleeping car conductor, to put off our baggage at Dennison. Passed four hours at Newark. Showery afternoon. Dined at hotel. Off at 5.50pm for New York by palace car. (Wrote F. Allen at Newark.) Supped at Dennison. Found baggage there. Wrote in evening again on items for Independent. Retired at 11.
