(New York) Up at 6.30. After breakfast at Ashland House, off at 8am for home. Met Prof. Sherwin on cars. Saw family at Fairfield. Wrote on article on Special Services for Children. Home at noon. Mr. G. G. Lyon of Chicago came to talk with me about editorship of Nat'l S.S. Teacher. He dined with me. Co. H. man from E. Lyme called to ask help in getting his brother out of the regular army. Sent letter to Alice. Finished article on Children's Service. Downtown with Johnny. Called at Y. M. Institute. Connected myself with it. In evening Gen. Otis and Dr. Hart called. Retired at 10.30. (T. W. Russell called also).
