(New York) Up at 9. Breakfasted with Prime. Saw Mary. Down to Tyler's office. With him walked downtown. Called at G.A.R. headquarters. Thence to Independent office. Left copy there. Back to Tyler's. Called at Rev. A. Taylor's. Again at Tyler's. Met A. Woodruff. Dined with him & Tyler. Off at 3 for home. Telegraphed Alice. Met F. Fellowes, D. H. Brigham & others on cars. Home at 7. Ally had been very sick. Read letters. Sent off letters to Ward & Rice about Nat'l Teacher. Retired at 10.30.
