(Hartford) Up at 7.40. Warm morning. Downtown with Johnny to State House, bank, druggists & McClunies. Bought new comb. Sent three letters. Helped Alice get trunk ready. Balanced cash. Gurdon off in early morning to Brattleboro. Off at 3.30 with Alice and children and Eliza for New Haven and Fairfield. Wrote on article on Children's Church as we rode. Bern met us at Fairfield depot. Out to Mrs. Jessup's. Took tea there. Home by 8pm train from Fairfield, stopping two hours at New Haven. Met James at New Haven House. Had talk with Elihu Burritt. Home at 1.45. Slept with Johnny.
