Monday, October 16, 1871

(Philadelphia) Up at 7.50. Out to Union rooms at 9.30. Met Committee at 10 am, comprising Pubn., Missn., & Finance Committees. Stated to them my reasons for wishing the Union to undertake Normal work. Was requested to present a plan in writing of such work. Later conversed with Mr. Kirkpatrick about lessons for 1872. Lunched at Continental restaurant. Called at S.S. Time's office. Again at Union rooms. Dined at Continental at 5 o'clock. Out to 7th Presbn. Ch. in eveng. Heard Ralph Wells on The Teacher Praying. Met Stuart & Peltz. Stopped at Kingsbury's. Retired at 11.30.
