(Elm City, N. Haven Harbor) After restless night, up at 5.40. Steamer aground. Took tug to shore. Washed at Union House. Off at 6.50 for East Hampton. Wrote up diary on cars. At East Hampton at 9.50. Frank Allen met me at cars. Went to Mansion House. Mrs. Allen & Charley there. Down to Deacon Lyman’s to see about board for Charley. Talked with Allen about New York City “ring”. Dined with him. Rainy day. Attended opening exercises at chapel after dinner. Off at 6.30 after tea for Mt. Tom & Springfield. Home at 9.40. Retired at 10.45. Wrote Alice.
