(New York City) Up at 7.30. Breakfasted at Astor House. Met young Coolidge, formerly of Boston, also Senator Wilson. Called at Independent office. Met Senator Wilson, again, there. Had talk about Gen. Butler. Called at G.A.R. headquarters. Joined Ninth A.C. Association. Up to Tyler’s office. Talked with Wisewell. Dined with Rev. E.W. Gilman at Sinclair House. Called at Devlin’s. Met Tyler & Dr. Rovsa at 2. Went with them to Brooklyn. Attended meeting of Foreign Committee of S.S. Union. Heard report of Dr. Rovsa of his European tour. Returned to New York in early evening. Off at 8pm for home. Met J. G. Batterson on cars. (Called at Prime’s at 7.30. Bought postal box) Home at 12.50. Retired at 2am.
