(Chicago, Ill.) Up at 7.15. Off at 9 for 2nd Bap. S.S., West Side, with Mr. Kingsbury. Met Ensign there. Saw reception of Dr. Goodspeed by his S.S., on his return from Europe. Went to 8th Presb. church. Preached in forenoon for Mr. Reed on 0000 Sowing. At noon dined with Ensign. Charley with me. He went back to hotel. Off with Ensign to Congl. Tabernacle S.S. Young Ross of Co. B., met met there. Out to Mr. Bradley's alone to dinner. Met May Gray there, also Rev. Mr. Chamberlain. He asked me to preach for him. Went with him to hotel. Obtained Hypocrisy sermon & preached it at New Engd church. Back to hotel. Young Waitt of 24th Mass. called. Packed. Retired at 11.
