Thursday, September 14, 1871

(Hartford) Up at 8.45 after a good rest. Miss Mather & Mrs. Eldridge called. Mother called and talked about Annie. Johnny down to Dr. Crane’s, having his teeth filled. Talked with H.S. Barbour as to school-lots. Wrote letters. Looked over papers on table. Downtown with Johnny. Bought griddle-turner, cakes, & Sophy’s school books. Called at Kelsey’s, Courant office, & Dr. Curtis’. Wrote up diary after tea. Called at Dr. Curtis’ in evening, also at several places looking for servant. Called at Mother’s. Had pleasant talk with Gurdon. Home and abed at 10. Sent three S.S. letters and two others.
