(Fairfield, Ct.) Up at 5.40. Rode to depot, after breakfast, and off for home at 7.10. Wrote up diary. At Hartford at 9.40. Downtown with Johnny. Off with him at 1pm for New York & Phila. At Phila. at 10.45, at Kingsbury’s house. Supped and had chat there. Retired at 11.45. On cars from Hartford met Rev. Dr. E. E. Strong. Left gold pen at Hartford & telegraphed for it from New Haven. Sent ten S.S. letters & telegrams and two others.
