(Hartford) Up at 7.30. Hot, dry day. Watered yard. Finished putting screen cloth on back door. Mr. Camp called. Talke with him about Charley. Downtown with Johnny. Called at office of Post, at telegraph and post-offices, & bank, Prescott's & market, at Hart, Merriam & Co. and on B. R. Abbe. Home at 12.30. Made ready for start. Off at 1, with Johnny & Charley for New York. Wrote up diary. Met Rev. W. C. Walker. Saw James Stotes at New Haven ticket office. At Everett House about 5pm. Dined there. Over to Brooklyn after dinner with Johnny, to see A. Woodruff. Johnny returned. Chatted with Mr. W. until 10.30. Back to hotel at 12. Retired at 12.45. (Telegraphed Woodruff.)
