(Hartford) Up at 8. Kelsey came to fit furnace pipes. Called at Father’s. Downtown with Johnny. Did shopping for Alice. Called on Stedman Hall to see 16th C.V. veterans. At noon called at Bromley’s & Gov. Jewell’s. Had talk with latter about senatorial & post-office matters. Wrote letters in afternoon. Sarah Grady came with new cook. Down to depot at 6, to meet Charley Camp. Went with him to Dr. Custis’. Thence with Johnny, to lunch at depot. Out to school meeting at high school building. Exciting meeting again. Final conclusion of the question of a school-house by a reference to it to Wethersfield. Home at 10.30. Long talk with Alice. Retired at 12.40. Sent seven S.S. letters and two others.
