(Philadelphia) Up at 7.20. Took quinine. Called at Union rooms. Met Whillin, Knowles, Kirkpatrick, Rice & Kingsbury, to talk over Chicago proposed to me. Discussed it all forenoon. Lunched with Johnny at Continental. Bought clothing for him. Called at S.S. Times office. Talked with Dr. Allibone. Walked about town with Johnny. Dined at Kingsbury’s. Off for New York by 6.45 train. Telegram came to me from S. A. Hubbard. Replied to it. At Astor House at 10.30. Walked about Park. Took ice cream & peach short cake. Retired at 11.30. Sent one S.S. telegram and one letter.
