(Philadelphia) Up at 6.45. Tyler met me at breakfast. Had long talk with him about his affairs, and S.S. Union matters. Out to Union room at 10am. Tyler off for New York by 11am train. Long talk with Wurts, Rice, & Allibone. Dined at Continental. Again at Union rooms. Off for New York by 5.30 train. Wrote up diary. In New York about 8.45. Unable to get room at Astor House. Supped there. Found room at French’s Hotel. Retired at 10.30.
