(Boston) Up at 8.45 tired and head-achey. Met Chas. Thomas. Called at Shute's. Thence to Pratt's. Had long talk with him over Special Donations. "Robinson S.S." etc. Back to Shute's. Met Mr. Haven. Called at Chapman's. He dined with Shute & myself. Back to Pratt's. Out to Dr. Cullis'. Looked up carpet at Torrey's & for desk at 407 Washington St. Off for home at 4.30. Wrote to Fred. Home at 9.40. Letter from Gray as to his trouble with Wallaces. Called at Father's. Took tea there. Frank Kennedy there. Wrote Gen.s Terry & Gray. Down to midnight train. Retired at 1.15.

(Hartford) Up at 8.20. Cool, bright morning. Downtown after breakfast with Sophy. Tel'd Gray as to Gen. Terry. Called at Father's. At 2pm up to Springfield. Letters from Allen, Walter & Fred. From latter as to smoking! Wrote to him on cars and mailed letter at Spring'd. Called at Holland's & Mrs. Merriam's. Back by 5.10 train. Wrote to Gray & again to Fred. Wrote up diary. Sent three other S.S. letters & one personal. Retired at 10.30.

(Hartford) Up at 8.30. Re-tacked netting on window screen for dining room. Hung door-screen. Aided Alice. Wrote four S.S. letters. Looked over papers on table. Fletcher off for Stafford Springs. Mr. Fuller of New London called. After dinner, downtown. Called at Dr. Hunt's. Met him & Dr. Jackson. Home at 4. Sent letter to Fred. In evening wrote letters. Called at Camp's. Met Gen. Franklin on street cars. Retired at 11.15.

(Hartford) Up at 7.30. After early breakfast, downtown for carriage. Met Rev. A. C. Roe of Christian Commission. Rode home. Took Alice & Baby out to ride. Called at Camps. On return, wrote letters. Downtown before dinner. Called at Post editorial rooms. After dinner wrote letter to Frank Allen and other correspondence. Downtown again and called at Dr. Hunt's. Paid Peckham's & Litchfield & Flower's bills. After tea, packed valise, took bath, arranged business with Fletcher, called at Father's & again wrote letters. Sent off eleven S.S. and four other letters. Retired at 11.30.

(Hartford) Up at 6.30. Off at 8.10 with children for Bridgeport, after talk with Fletcher about business. Left children with Bern Budd. Met Calvin Child. Rode with him to Stamford. Wrote Alice on cars. Reached New York at 12.40. At 10 Bible House found letter from Fred. Downtown. Had hair cut. Called at Wallace's. Rec'd coupon money for Alice. Up town by 8th Ave. cars. Wrote up diary in Hudson River Depot. Also wrote record of addresses & sermons. Thunder shower. Met W'm E. Dodge, Jr. Off for Watertown at 6.30. Sent accident ticket of insurance to Alice with letter. Read & looked over sermon in cars. Retired, anxious & troubled about 10.15. Sent five S.S. letters and three others.

(R.R. for Watertown) Up after restless night at 4.15am, hoping to meet Fred at Rome. Again abed until 6.40. Up, uneasy and anxious until reaching Watertown at 7.50. Fred & Walter met me. Up to their home. With Fred in room anxious about tobacco. Sad hour or two! Unable to eat breakfast. With Fred until 10.30. Then he promised me never to smoke again. Thank God! Down to store & bank. Met Tyler. Back to house. Dr. Porter called & invited me to preach to young men. After dinner rode to Sacket's Harbor with Fred & his mother. Called at Walter B. Camp's. Went out rowing with Fred. Met friends at Mr. Camp's. Back to Watertown at 9.45, reaching there at 11.45. Retired at 12.15.

(Watertown, N.Y.) Rainy night & early morning. Up at 7.30. Looked over sermon. Sat with family. Out to forenoon services. Heard Rev. Dr. Porter preach on Faith. Stopped at S.S. at noon and addressed it. Back with Fred to house. Had talk with him about his having smoked. Loving assurances from him. After dinner talked with him & read Allen's letter in room. Looked over sermon. Out to mission S.S. Spoke there. Back to house & again worked on sermon. In evening preached at Presb'n Ch. to young men, from Gal 6:7, on Sowing & Reaping. Large audiencec. Sat at house while they were singing after church. Retired at 11.45.

(Watertown, N.Y.) Up at 7.15. Fred went out to feed chickens. Downtown with Mr. Camp. Talk with him in bank about Fred. Met Tyler and talked with him on business. After dinner walked to Dr. Binsse's. Had nice call there. Then to Sterling's & Kimball's, also to skating rink. After tea, called at Mrs. Paddock's on Miss Frost. Home, after call at post-office. Read in Mark Twain's book to family. Retired at 12 o'clock. Fred very tired. (Called on Dr. Porter's in afternoon.)

(Watertown, N.Y.) Up at 7.10. Cool, cloudy day. After breakfast, off at 8.15 for home. Fred with me to Rome. Delightful ride with him. Read 0000 on tobacco & Mrs. Stowe on Reading. Looked over his diary. At 11.45 left him at Rome. Met Campbell of Htfd. & his brother of Brattleboro. Wrote Fred. Reached Albany at 4.25. Too late for Spring'd train. Met Col. Pettibone. Up to Delaware House. Wrote Fred again. Walked about town. Off for Springfield at 8.20. Wrote awhile on cars. Then slept. At Massasoit at 1.35. Met Lt. Hurlburt of Gen. Terry's staff there. Had Room 113. Wrote awhile. Retired at 2.10. Sent three S.S. letters, by Fletcher.

(Springfield) Up at 6. After breakfast, off at 7 for home. Lt. Hurlburt on cars. Home at 8.20. All well. Letters from Gray, Drs. Smyth & Plumer & Capt. Senn, & others. Napped it for an hour and a half before dinner. Wrote after dinner. Downtown with Fletcher. Bought fruit. Talked with him as to his plans of life. Home & wrote up diary. Sent off six S.S. letters and one other. In evening wrote on letter to Fred, also on other letters. Retired at 10.30.

Called there on Dr. Seelye, Dr. Henshaw, Mrs. Thos. Sawyer, & Capt. Miller. Looked up board & room for Walter Camp. Off for Northampton with Dr. Henshaw at 3.45. Called there at Bridgeman's. Wrote Fred there. (At Springfield mailed long letter to him.) Wrote also Mrs. Camp & Walter. Home by evening express train. Wrote Mr. Camp. Downtown with letters. Brought home ice-cream for Alice. Took bath. Retired at 12.10. Sent one S.S. letter & five others. Called at Mother's & had long talk about Father.

(Hartford) Up at 5. Off for Woodstock at 6.10. Wrote Dr. Porter and on letter to Fred on the way. At Plainfield took freight train and suffered in it for two & a half hours. At Putnam met Fletcher. Rode to Woodstock. Stopped at Rev. Mr. Beach's. Spoke at 1.30pm to large gathering of S.S.'s & others on Green. At 3pm, band commenced playing - from Boston. At 3.30 rain commenced. Severe storm. Stopped at Mr. Beach's. Wrote awhile in upper room. Off with Dr. Williams at 5.30. for Pomfret. Stopped at his home. Met Dea. Coolidge there. Retired at 11pm. (Wrote George R. Bliss).

(Pomfret, Ct.) Up at 7.45. Bright, cool, lovely morning after the rain. Looked over sermons & talked with Dr. Williams about them. Out to Congl Church. Preached from Deut. 33:26. Rev. Mr. Hyde pastor & Rev. Mr. Alexander ex-pastor present. Stopped at S.S. and addressed it. After lunch at Dr. William's, rode with him to Putnum. Preached in Cong'l Ch. there from Luke 12:12. Went home with Mr. W. R. Ward. At 5pm preached in open air to masses on public square. Sermon from Matt 22:36, 37. Home again with Mr. Ward. Talked with family awhile. Wrote in room to dear Fred. Retired at 11.15.

(Putnam, Ct.) Up at 6. Bright day & cool. Off at 7.40 for home via Plainfield. Met Fletcher on cars. Wrote on letter to Fred. Home with headache at 11.30. Alice had had trying time with sickness. Alice & Bridget Clancy & Ally had been sick. Downtown after dinner & letter writing. Sent four S.S. letters and two others. After tea walked to Gov. Jewell's. Downtown with Alice for washroomware. Called at Dr. Hunt's. At depot met Gov. Jewell. Home at 9.40. Balanced cash. Retired at 10.45.

(Hartford) Up at 7.50. Wrote up diary, after breakfast. Prepared for address for 10th C.V. re-union. Read letters from army. Looked over scrapbooks with Mr. Fletcher and ransacked papers in garret. Sent off six S.S. letters and one other. Downtown after dinner. Sent carriage to Alice. Called at Courant office. In evening wrote on address for re-union. Father & mother & Gurdon came home from Greenwich. Retired at 11.30. Downtown in evening to post-office. No letter from Fred.

(Hartford) Up at 6.15. Off with Alice at 8.10 for Greenwich to attend regimental re-union. Made notes on cars. Met Drs. Newton & Hart, Gens. Otis & Goodyear & others of reg't on cars. At Greenwich about noon. Rode to Annie's. Gave her photograph of ferns. With all hands to Americus Club grounds. Large gathering of regiment there. After business meeting, had dinner in grove. Speeches after dinner. Spoke on The Tie That Binds Us As Army Comrades. Back to Slosson's. Gen Otis & wife with us. Rode about 9pm. 000 Cob bridge. An owl-train there. Wrote sketch of re-union as we rode. F. G. Knight on train. Home at 12.45am. Retired at 1.15.

Met Miss Mather & Perit at express train. Home & napped it before dinner. Sent five S.S. letters and two others. In evening Miss Mather & Miss Perit called. Downtown to post-office. Called on Gen. Whitaker to talk about pos-office matters. No letter from Fred. Bought ice-cream. Met Miss Mather & Perit on their way home. Walked to Pratt St. with them. Called at Mother's. Retired, after packing, at 11.30.

(Hartford) Up at 6. At 8.10 off with Alice & Ally for New Haven. No letter from Fred! At New Haven, left Alice & Ally. They went to Bridgeport. Called at North's, Ward's, Jarman's, Peck's, etc. Off for Guilford at 11. Called at Rev. Mr. Hall's to see about Swiss costumes. Dined at hotel. Back to New Haven at noon. Called at costumer's. Off for Bridgeport at 4.30, after a call at Miss May Bacon's. At Bridgeport met Alice, Sophy, May & Ally. All home together by evening express. Letter from Fred. His Sunday letter still behind. Downtown to mail. Sent two S.S. letters and two others. Long talk with Alice. Called at James & Father's. Retired at midnight.

Home to dinner again downtown. Rode to Capt. Hunt's house - Hunted for Paine. Fred's Sunday letter came. Wrote Fred. Found Paine. Wrote again to Fred. Miss Mary Roberts at house to tea. Down to post-office in evening. Brought home costumes. Wrote up diary. Retired at 10.30.

In afternoon attended Asylum Hill Concert and heard Father Hawley & Charles Collins speak. Spoke also on Dr. Todd's lessons of memory. Alice & three children out. Home with them. Commenced letter to Fred. Charley Stowe came to tea & passed evening. Wrote again to Fred. Took bath. Retired at 10.30.

Reached Bible House at 3.30. Bought Bibles for Ervin, costume cards & etc. Downtown to Washington market. Bought peaches. Up to Hudson River depot. Sent package to Fred. Dined at St. James Hotel. Off for home at 8pm. Met Fenn, Tryon & Mr. Beunerhassett on cars. Home & abed at 1.30. Sent two S.S. letters and two others.

Talked with him about Mrs. Fessenden's illness. In evening commenced letter to Advance on Preaching to Children. Wrote also on letter to Fred. Retired at 11.30. Cold night.

Attended semi-centennial of S.S. at Cong'l Ch. there. Heard Rev. Mr. Holmes preach historical discourse. Rev. Dr. Tarbox & Rev. Mr. Butler spoke of old times. Home at noon with Rev. Mr. Wilson & Geo. Langdon. At 12pm, started in carriage with Alice, Sophy, & May for East Hartford. In afternoon meeting there spoke to children. Attended pic-nic in grove. Home by cars at 6. Downtown at 8.45. May had toothache. Called at Mother's. Wrote again on Advance. Retired at 12.05. Sent one letter.

Saw dog on Main St. take possession of wrong carriage. Called at Courant office & market. Read article to Advance to Mother & Gurdon. In evening wrote article to Congregationalist about my writing in cars. Wrote also on letter to Fred. Hunted S.S. Times volumes for Essay by Geo. Dana Boardman. Retired at 1am. Sent four S.S. letters.

Thence to Dr. Hunt's & home. In evening wrote Miss Bacon. Down to Pearl St. Church to attended Christian Commission meeting. Heard Roe, Mingius, & Parsons. Called at Dr. Hunt's. Home at 10. Occupied South room. Retired at 11.20. Taken with colic soon after. Took emetics. Sent letter to Cong'l & accomp'g note.

(Hartford) Up at 8.45 with head ache. Downtown at 10am, with Alice, Sophy & May to Dr. Parmele's. Dr. Jarvis gave chloroform to May. She had four teeth extracted. Narrow escape from suffocation. Off at 12.20 for Spring'd. Thence at 1.45 to Mr. Tom & East Hampton. Called on Walter Camp. With him, called at Dr. Seelye's, Mr. Knight's, Mr. Willston's, & Dr. Henshaw's. Took supper at hotel. Off for Mr. Tom Station at 6.30. Sent article to Advance with letter to editors. Wrote Mrs. Merriam. Home at 9.40. Retired at 11.30.

Dr. Bodwell preach on "This is a faithful saying &etc.". Communion service followed. In afternoon read, wrote & napped it awhile. Wrote Mr. Camp & Fred in evening, also to Gen. Terry. Read latter to Alice. Took bath. Retired at 10.45.

With him visited State Reform School. Talked to boys there. Took tea with Dr. Hatch. Home by evening express train. Met P. H. Reilly on cars. Downtown to post-office. Walked with Mr. Nott home & called at father's. Met Jas. Bustch there. Retired at 11.30.

Commenced article for Congl. on Old Paths. Retired at 11.50.

Met Lt. Otis. Wrote again in afternoon. Looked over papers. Sent seven S.S. letters, one telegram & one other letter. At 7.15 off for Boston. Reached Parker House about 12. Retired at 12.30.

Dined at Parker's with Shute. Off for home at 3pm. Met Mr. Hallett & Mr. Leonard of East Hampton, Payne of 6th C.V. & others. Home at 7.15. Charley Camp called. Wrote nine letters for him. Down to post-office. Off at 9.40 for New Haven. Wrote to 000 N.Y. & N.H. R.R. for overcoat. Stopped at New Haven House. Retired at 12.30.

Clark preach on God's Unchangeableness. Dined at Hotel. Sat with Moseley & family in their room. Visited with young North, Howe St. S.S. & North Ch. mission. Spoke in both. Attended North Church Children's service. Followed pastor in address on Hands. Home with Mr. Henry Champion. Called in evening at Hotel. Sat and talked with Mrs. Champion. Wrote awhile to Fred. Retired at 10.30.

Off for home at 3.15. Met Rev. Mr. Reynolds of North Haven. Reached home at 5. Ned Gallaudet & Susy just arrived from Europe. Delightful letter from Fred! Telegram from Gen. Terry. Rode to Fessenden's with Ned. Wrote Gen. Terry. Finished letter to Fred. Down to post-office. Called at Father's. Retired at 10.45.

Had sad talk with Mrs. Merriam & Miss May Bacon about Gray. Home by evening express train, after tea at Massasoit. Met the Misses Hamlin on cars. Downtown with Alice. Took ice-cream at Briggs'. Retired at 10.45. Sent two S.S. leters and two others.

Started to go to East Hampton & Amherst. Returned to house & wrote plan of missionary appeal. In afternoon met Gov. Claflin & Council of Mass. at Asylum. Mrs. Gallaudet with them. Took supper there. Package & letter from Fred. Took bath. Retired at 10.45. Sent five S.S. letters & one telegram and one other letter.

Off at 9.40 for Spring'd. Called at Holland's, hotel & telegraph office. Home by noon express. Started for 2pm train for Spring'd but decided not to go. Downtown. Talked with Calvin Day about Asylum matters. Rec'd telegram from Fred Camp. Ned G. & Chas. Denison came to tea. Off at 7.15 for Spring'd. Called at Mrs. Merriam's. Rainy evening. At 9pm Fred Camp came from Watertown. Passed the night at Massasoit. Retired at 12.30. Sent three letters one telegram.

(Springfield, Mass.) Up at 7.30. After breakfast at the Massasoit, called with Fred at Mrs. Merriam's. Miss Bacon & Miss May Gray there. Called at W. J. Holland's. Met Dr. Buckingham. Off by noon express train for home, leaving Fred at hotel. Baby quite ill. Reaching home at 1pm found letter from Gen. Terry about Gray. Sent it to Mrs. Merriam. Down to depot for 3.30pm train. Met Fred & rode with him to Norwalk. Met Dr. Bacon & Prof. Day & Col. Lynch on cars. At Norwalk was met by Rev. S. B. T. Bissell. Went with him to his home. Stopped there for night. Walked out in evening. Retired at 10.30. Sent one S.S. letter.

After lunch, made ready for afternoon. At 3pm, conducted service for children. Preached on name above every name. In evening, attended & addressed S.S. Concert. Fred went home with Miss Woodbury. Waited for him until 10.30. Out to meet him. Met him at bridge. Retired about midnight.

(Norwalk, Ct.) Up at 6.15. After breakfast, walked out with Mr. Bissell. Called at church to see Miss Woodbury. Down to So. Norwalk. Met Miss Carter & Rev. Mr. White. Off for home by express train at noon. Found Baby very low. After dinner, called at Dr. Hunt's & Dr. Beresford. They came in consultation. Dr. Hunt came in five times during day & evening. Went downtown in evening with Fred. Called at post-office, market, etc. Wrote up diary. Sent off five S.S. letters & one telegram. Watched with dear Harry until midnight with much hope. Then he grew weaker. At 1 called Alice. Sent Fred for Dr. Hunt. Called at Father's for Mother. Harry died at 1.45. Dr. Hunt came about 2.15. Lay down at 3, with Fred.

(Hartford) Up at 7. Sad, sad awaking! Downtown with Fred. Sent telegrams announcing Harry's death. Arranged for funeral. Met Gen. Hawley & Dr. Bushnell. Home about 11.15. Started for Camps. They called. Feeling quite ill, napped it on lounge. Fred watching me kindly. Photographer came & took pictures of dear Harry. Wrote letters. Fred went to post-office for me after tea. Twichell called in evening. Nelly Camp came to sit up with Harry's remains. Sent six S.S. letters, three personal ones, and seven telegrams. Slept in South room with Fred. Retired at 10.30.

(Hartford) Rainy day. Up at 7.30. Kate & children came at 9.40. Arranged rooms for funeral. Fred aided me in all things. At 3pm, dear Harry's funeral was attended. Dr. Bushnell conducted the service. Rode to cemetery (Spring Grove.) Rev. Mr. Camp led in prayer there. Laid Harry's remains by Fanny's. Home in sadness. Wrote one S.S. letter. Down to post-office in evening. Sophy & Ogden went to Father's to sleep. Again in my own room. Retired at 10.30. Bathed Fred's feet, put mustard paste to chest, and gave him cream of tartar.

Fred busy with Charley Williams. Off for Northampton at 7.30. Reaching there, hunted in vain for Miss Mather. Went to Mansion House for night. Fred's cold very bag. Went for medicines for him. Retired at 10.15. Tel'd Wurts.

She rode to New York. Met Kate at Bridgeport. In N.Y. met Wallace & Thos. Called at Tyler's. Lunched at Dorland's. Over to Brooklyn. Called on Mr. Duncklee's. Thence to Wallace's for night. Out to Camps with Fred to tea. Stopped at Tryon's on way home. Home at 10.15. Fred took bath. Retired at 12.15. Sent off six S.S. letters.

Off for Northampton at 1.45. Met Walter there. Called at Bridgeman's and on Miss Mather. Rode to Amherst. Walter rode with use there and brought back team. Called at hotel, Dr. Dole's, and Rev. J. L. Jenkin's. Stopped with latter for the night. Profs. Goodall and Clark Seelye called. Worked on sermon. Retired at 10.50. Sent three S.S. letters, three telegrams and one other letter and one telegram.

(Amherst, Mass.) Up at 7.30. Rainy day. Worked on sermon again. At 10.30 went to College Chapel and preached to young men from I Kings 2:2. Dined with Prof. Seelye. Met youn Haven of New London. In afternoon preached from Gal 6:7 at College Chapel. Rode thence with Col. Clark to Agricultural College and preached to young men the sermon of the forenoon. Returned to Mr. Jenkins to tea. In evening addressed congregation at Mr. Jenkin's church from II Kings 2:21. Home with Jenkins. Chatted there an hour or two. Retired at 11.

At 5pm met Mrs. M at cars. Home to tea. Wrote on diary. Sent off two S.S. letters and one other. Heavy rain and great flood. Watched effects of storm on bank of Little River. Downtown after tea. Met Gen. Hawley. Talked over Boston trip. Called on Dr. Hunt. Retired at 11.15.

Sad parting after his delightful visit! At 4.45 went with Alice to Springfield. Took supper at Massasoit. Left Alice there. Called at Mrs. Merriam's. Had unsatisfactory talk with her. Back to hotel. Home by steamboat train. Retired at 11. Sent two S.S. letters & one other.

Delayed in reaching New York. At 5th St. Hotel about 5.50. Thence to Van Santvood's - 66 W 11th St. to find Fred. Dined there. After chat with Mr. Van S., started to look for Fred. Called at his uncle John's in 30th St. Found him at his uncle Henry's in 28th St. Back to Van Santvood's with him. Retired at 11. Wrote two S.S. letters and one other.

(New York) Up at 6.30. After breakfast at Van Santvoord's, off with Fred for Hudson River R.R. He left for Utican at 8pm. Rode downtown. Called at barber's and had hair cut. Off for Brooklyn. Called at Navy yard. Looked for Capt. Balch and Chapn Dorrance. Started for home of latter. Getting on to de Kalb Ave. car, pistol fell from my pocket. One barrel exploded. Bullet entered conductor's leg. Sad time! Saw policeman. Told him the story. Went with him to station house. Got held for examination. Called at home of father of conductor. Thence to Wallace Gallaudet's. Home by 3pm train. Reached home at 7.20. Called at James'. Very anxious evening and night. Retired at 10.30. Called at Courant office. Sent one S.S. letter and four others.

At noon rec'd New York papers with anxiety. Name given wrongly in Brooklyn news items. Thank God! Wrote letters in afternoon. Off for Boston at 7.15. Reached Parker House and retired at 2am. Arranged with Goodman and Pollard about Gray. Bought books, and tracts at Hastings Repository. Lunched with Pratt under Tremont House. Looked after hats for Fred. Off for home at 3pm. Met Prof. Bailey of Yale on cars. Talked with him about rhetoric and oratory and general culture. Home at 7.50. Very tired. Read letters. Looked over papers. Called at Fletcher's and Father's. Retired at 10.40.

Assisted at ceremony. Met Rev. Dr. Daggett & Mr. Poole. Mr. Allen passed night with us. Retired at 12. Sent three S.S. letters and one other.

Defended also, Bible study as a regular service against statements as to West from Rev. Mr. Bassett of Warren. In aftn. spoke to children, using deaf-mute signs in illustration. Convention closed before tea. In evening, met a number of friends at Gen. Sedgwick's. Pleasant evening. Retired at 10.30.

(Sharon, Ct.) Up at 6.30. After breakfast and good byes, off at 8.30 by stage for Cornwell Bridge. Bright day. At Ellsworth met Rev. Mr. Bissell. Took Housatonic R.R. cars at C. Bridge for Bridgeport about 11.30. Dined at Merriamsville. At Bridgeport, about 2.30 called at Meeker & Shelton's. Thence to Kate's by team. Stopped there about two hours. Back to Bridgeport. Took evening express to Hartford. Home about 7.15. Found Mr. T. H. Camp there. Delighted to see him. After tea, he went to Tryon's while I read letters. Later, talked with him until midnight. Then, retired. Two letters from Fred.

After lunch, rode to Ch. of Good Shepherd, across Park, and up No. Main St. Back to house. Out to Camp's to call. Thence to Mr. Tryon's to dinner. Met Thos. Root there. Back to house at 8.30. At 9.40 Mr. Camp left for New Haven & New York. Again at house. Wrote awhile. Sent letter to Fred.

Mailed it for midnight train. Retired at 12.45. Sent thirteen S.S. letters and two others.

Had pie & cheese lunch at farm-house. Had talk with Mr. Knight of Providence. Wrote Fred Fish, Walter Camp, Alice & Fred Camp. Reached Rutland Vt. about 5pm. Called at Y.M.C.A. rooms. Stopped at Stevens House. Met O.B. Douglass. Spoke in evening at State S.S. Convention in Congl Ch. K.A. Burnell preceded me. Took lunch after at depot. Retired at 11.30. Sent one S.S. letter.

Spoke in convention on How To improve spiritual ton of the S.S.'s. After dinner attended Convention and addressed children. Answered questions from Question-box, with Burnell, before and after dinner. Off at 3pm for Albany, with Burnell. Thence to Springfield. Had talk with newsboy, after leaving Saratoga. Reached Massasoit at 1.45. Retired at 2.15.

After reading letters went to U. S. Hotel to 7th C.V. re-union. Spoke there. Wrote at Fessenden's office to Tyler & Alice. Tel'd Parker House. Off, after tea at Father's, to Boston. Met Chas. Marsh & Rev. H. H. McFarland on cars. Reached Parker House at 12.10. Retired at 12.40.

Bought Bedouin for Sophy. Met W.G. Chapin. Dined with Shute. Off hurriedly at 3pm for home. Tel'd Holland. Met him at Springfield. Home at 8.30 after supper at depot. Found children at Father's. Rainy afternoon and evening. Took bath at home. Retired there at 10.40.
