(Hartford) Up at 7.45. Downtown after breakfast with Hunter. Called at post-office, at Austin Dunham's, at J. B. Russell's, at Market, etc. Rode back to house. Hunter took family to ride. Wrote on Congl. article. Sent four S.S. letters and one other. Wrote on letter to Fred. In evening Hunter left for New York. Met Mrs. Merriam & May Bacon on their way to Springfield. Retired at 11.
