(Boston) Up at 7.30. After breakfast called at Shute's & at Thacker's finding him off to Europe. At Congl office - having talk with Richardson, at Pratt's, and with him shopping about town. Bought Bedouin for Sophy. Met W.G. Chapin. Dined with Shute. Off hurriedly at 3pm for home. Tel'd Holland. Met him at Springfield. Home at 8.30 after supper at depot. Found children at Father's. Rainy afternoon and evening. Took bath at home. Retired there at 10.40.
