(Hartford) Up at 8.15. After breakfast, wrote awhile. After dinner, downtown to Watkinson Library and Geer & Pond's. Looked up material for answer to Churchman. At 4.45 off for Springfield. Supped at Massasoit. Called at Mrs. Merriam's. Back by steamboat train. Met Mrs. Bennett, née Green, on cars. At home, wrote again. Finished letter to Congl & Rec'd in reply to Churchman. Mailed it for midnight train. Retired at 12.45. Sent thirteen S.S. letters and two others.
