Saturday, September 4, 1869

(Hartford) Up at 8.45 with head ache. Downtown at 10am, with Alice, Sophy & May to Dr. Parmele's. Dr. Jarvis gave chloroform to May. She had four teeth extracted. Narrow escape from suffocation. Off at 12.20 for Spring'd. Thence at 1.45 to Mr. Tom & East Hampton. Called on Walter Camp. With him, called at Dr. Seelye's, Mr. Knight's, Mr. Willston's, & Dr. Henshaw's. Took supper at hotel. Off for Mr. Tom Station at 6.30. Sent article to Advance with letter to editors. Wrote Mrs. Merriam. Home at 9.40. Retired at 11.30.
