(Boston) Up at 7.45. After breakfast at Parker House, called at Shute's, Chapman's, Pratt's, Goodman's, and Pollard's. Wrote letters to Woburn and Roxbury schools. Arranged with Goodman and Pollard about Gray. Bought books, and tracts at Hastings Repository. Lunched with Pratt under Tremont House. Looked after hats for Fred. Off for home at 3pm. Met Prof. Bailey of Yale on cars. Talked with him about rhetoric and oratory and general culture. Home at 7.50. Very tired. Read letters. Looked over papers. Called at Fletcher's and Father's.
