(Springfield, Mass.) Up at 7.30. After breakfast at the Massasoit, called with Fred at Mrs. Merriam's. Miss Bacon & Miss May Gray there. Called at W. J. Holland's. Met Dr. Buckingham. Off by noon express train for home, leaving Fred at hotel. Baby quite ill. Reaching home at 1pm found letter from Gen. Terry about Gray. Sent it to Mrs. Merriam. Down to depot for 3.30pm train. Met Fred & rode with him to Norwalk. Met Dr. Bacon & Prof. Day & Col. Lynch on cars. At Norwalk was met by Rev. S. B. T. Bissell. Went with him to his home. Stopped there for night. Walked out in evening. Retired at 10.30. Sent one S.S. letter.
