(Watertown, N.Y.) Up at 7.10. Cool, cloudy day. After breakfast, off at 8.15 for home. Fred with me to Rome. Delightful ride with him. Read 0000 on tobacco & Mrs. Stowe on Reading. Looked over his diary. At 11.45 left him at Rome. Met Campbell of Htfd. & his brother of Brattleboro. Wrote Fred. Reached Albany at 4.25. Too late for Spring'd train. Met Col. Pettibone. Up to Delaware House. Wrote Fred again. Walked about town. Off for Springfield at 8.20. Wrote awhile on cars. Then slept. At Massasoit at 1.35. Met Lt. Hurlburt of Gen. Terry's staff there. Had Room 113. Wrote awhile. Retired at 2.10. Sent three S.S. letters, by Fletcher.
