(Boston) Up at 7. After breakfast called on Congl. & Rec'n office, at Rev. Mr. Butler's, M. H. Sargent's, Thacker's, Shute's, Nichols & Noyes', Torrey's, Pratt's, Pollard's, Goodman's, Chapman's, etc. Paid carpet bill. Talked about Gray's silence to the superintendents and others. Dined at Parker's with Shute. Off for home at 3pm. Met Mr. Hallett & Mr. Leonard of East Hampton, Payne of 6th C.V. & others. Home at 7.15. Charley Camp called. Wrote nine letters for him. Down to post-office. Off at 9.40 for New Haven. Wrote to 000 N.Y. & N.H. R.R. for overcoat. Stopped at New Haven House. Retired at 12.30.
