(R.R. for Watertown) Up after restless night at 4.15am, hoping to meet Fred at Rome. Again abed until 6.40. Up, uneasy and anxious until reaching Watertown at 7.50. Fred & Walter met me. Up to their home. With Fred in room anxious about tobacco. Sad hour or two! Unable to eat breakfast. With Fred until 10.30. Then he promised me never to smoke again. Thank God! Down to store & bank. Met Tyler. Back to house. Dr. Porter called & invited me to preach to young men. After dinner rode to Sacket's Harbor with Fred & his mother. Called at Walter B. Camp's. Went out rowing with Fred. Met friends at Mr. Camp's. Back to Watertown at 9.45, reaching there at 11.45. Retired at 12.15.
