(Bethlehem, Ct.) Up at 5.15. Breakfasted with Mr. Coit. Off with him at 6.25 for Watertown. Thence to Waterbury. Rec’d telegram there from Wattles. Off to Bridgeport. Reached there at 9.55. Called at Meeker’s. Had talk with Brinswade. Walked to Mrs. Jessup’s at Fairfield. Found family there. Sophy & May back from Greenwich. Baby recovering from illness. After dinner rode from Fairfield to Bridgeport in Mr. Squire’s dog-cart with Alice & Ally. Met Col. Hay & Rev. Geo. Bacon. Left on express for New York at 3.20. Shute & Slosson on cars. Talked with Bacon on S.S. work. Alice & Ally left at Stamford. On to N.Y. Walked to 6th Ave. & took cars to see 000000 St. ferry. Off for Phila. at 6.30. At Phila. with Shute at 10.30. Stopped at Continental. Retired at 12.20. Sent one S.S. telegram and one private letter.
