(Philadelphia) After wakeful troubled night, from nervousness & mosquitos, up at 7.45. Warm, damp morning. Out to Union rooms at 9 o'clock. Had talk with Dr. Allibone & Mr. Wurts. At 10 am, after reading plans of new work to Kingsley & Wurts met with Gen'l Co'l of Board. Laid my plan before them. It was discussed and approved. Lunched at Kingsbury's (after informal session of Miss. Com. to tlak over Chicago work.) Called on Gen. Wagner. Met Benedicts of St. Augustine. Again at Union rooms. Bought hat for Alice. Dined at hotel with Kingsbury. Off for New York at 5.30. Wrote on Independent matter. At New York at 8.30. Supped at Astor House. Down to New Haven boat. Off at 11. Met Dr. S. Tapps & Gladden. Retired at 12.
