(Hartford) Up at 7. Downtown after breakfast to Pearl St. Church to closing exercise of Am. Miss. Assocn. Thence to Hawley's office. Met Secretary Delano & Lt. Governor Bross. Rode with them & Hawley to latter's house. There met Gen. O. O. Howard & Col. Deming. Lunched with them. Down to depot to 1pm train to see guests off. Rev. Mr. Elliott with us at house until 4pm. Wrote letters. Sent telegram by Johnny to Boston for room. He sent it to Young's instead of Parker's by mistake. Off at 7.20 for Boston, met young Burt at depot. At Parker's and abed at 12.15.
