(Erie R. R.) Up at 5. At Elmira at 5.20. Stopped at Rathbone House. Slept two hours. Up at 7.35. After breakfast, out to find S.S's. Back to hotel and wrote again to Alice. Out to Congl. Church at 10.30. Heard Rev. T. K. Beecher preach or comment on S.S. lesson, of parable of Neb. Spoke to him at close of service. Attended S.S. Home with him to dinner and to talk about his school. Wrote again to Alice. Read Beecher's Life of Jesus. Wrote to Fred. Out in evening to Opera House to hear Mr. Beecher preach. His sermon on Following Jesus. Back to hotel. Finished letter to Alice. Mailed it, with Fred's. Retired at 9.30.
