(Hartford) Up at 8. Received check for Independent. Worked on World articles. Called at Father's. At noon met Shute and went with him to N.Y. Ministers going to Oberlin on the train. Pleasant talks with Drs. Alden, Butterfield, Wellman, Taylor, W. F. Sherwin and others. At Ashland House to supper. Called at Tyler's. Off at 8.30 for Phila. Train delayed. Wrote on World articles most of the way. At Continental at 1.15. Retired at 1.45.
