(Hartford) Up at 8.45 after heavy night's sleep. Downtown at 9.40 to Syke's expecting to meet Dr. Shaw. He not yet in town. Called on Dr. Vermilye and Dr. Riddle. Met Rose Terry. Ordered stationery at Geer's. Bought little book for Johnny at Brown's. Home at 11.30. Dr. Shaw called. Went with him to Co. jail to see Mrs. Stiles, under arrest for murder. Had talk with her. Home at 1.15. Wrote letters in afternoon. Called at Father's. Sent off thirteen S.S. letters and one telegram and three other letters. Johnny went to teacher's meeting. Examined Father's securities and made notes of them. Retired at 12.
