Friday, December 1, 1871

(Hartford) Up at 8.10. Cold day. Wrote letters all forenoon until 11.30. Downtown, met young Hopkins. Called at Mark Howard's office. Met Prime & walked with him to druggist's & Talbott & Post's. At noon called at Father's. H. C. Woodruff came from Brooklyn and dined with me. Again wrote letters. Downtown before tea. Ordered wood for Father. Called there. Dr & Mrs. Crane came in to pass evening and night, in consequence of water pipes bursting at their house. Johnny came at 6.30. Again wrote letters and called at Father's. Downtown with Johnny to telegraph office. Retired at 11.30. Sent sixteen S.S. letters and four other including telegram.
