(Hartford) Up at 7.45. Mrs. Twichell called. Off at 9.40 for Springfield with Johnny. Wrote Gen. Aiken. Had overcoat stolen. Called on Holland. Talked with him about his remaining sup't of 1st Church S.S. Met Col. Lee and wife. With them met Little Raven, Buffalo Grass and other Indian chiefs enroute from Boston to Chicago. Called at Mrs. Merriam's. Dined at Massasoit. Called at Dr. Buckingham's. Met Gen. F. A. Walker. Off at 2.05 for Boston. Johnny off for home. Wrote him & Ned. Read Old & New. Made notes for S.S. address for Prov'ce. At Shute's at 5.25. He in Vermont. Had corns cut by new doctor. Met Shroeder. Called at Parker's, Young's, Noyes, & Post office. At Young's again. Met Hawley & Bromley. At M.O.L.L.U.S. in evening. Later met "Nasby", Hawley, & Bromley at Young's. Sat with them until 2am. Retired at Young's at 2.15. Sent four S.S. letters and one other.
