Tuesday, November 16, 1869

(Newark, N.Y.) Up at 7.30. After breakfast, went to the house top to look out. Went uptown to Dr. Fish's. Thence to Broad St. depot. In to New York with Mr. Dorrance. Called at Wallace's. Left Alice there. Called at Astor Fire Ins. Co. on Mr. Torrance. Back to Wallace's. Sent Alice uptown. Called at Mr. Crane's on Trout St. & on Pine St.; also on Mr. Dunklee's, S. G. Goodrich, J. H. Washburn's, & looked vainly for Bunnell & Wilder. Up to 18th St. Dined at Thos. Gallaudet's. Downtown to Wallace's with Alice. Lunched at Dorlon's. Over to Brooklyn. Alice went with Wallace. I looked up Albert Miller. Supped at Wallace's. Called on Chap. Dorrance. Back to Wallace's. Wrote up diary. Retired at 11.15.
