(Hartford) Up at 7.45. Johnny off to Springfield at 6am. Very cold day. Down to telegraph office and post-office after breakfast. Off at 9.40 with McCullagh, to Springfield. Johnny met me there. Called on Rev. J. L. Graves and C. Marsh. Arranged for Graves to sustain T. H. Legaré. McC & Johnny returned to Hartford at noon. Dined at Massasoit. Called at Holland's. Obtained valise from Pittsfield. Off at 2.30 for home. Home at 3.40. Read and wrote letters. Called at Father's. Off for New York at 7.20. At Ashland House at 11.40. Retired at 12. Sent four S.S. letters and two others.
