Friday, December 31, 1869

(New York) Up at 7. After breakfast at Ashland House, off at 8.40 for Phila. Beautiful day. Wrote most of way. Met gentleman with deaf son. Had talks with him. Reached Phila. about noon. Called at Dr. Napheys. Then at Wurts. Had talke with latter of work and missionaries. Called at Kingsbury's. Having had season of special prayer in N.Y. for blessing on effort to find place for Fred Camp, went to F. R. Storr's for him. In apparent answer to prayer, a place was proposed for Fred by Mr. Storr. God be praised! Thence to Mr. Erringer's, Mr. Stuart's, & young Fisher's. Met. T. N. Baker. Again at Union rooms. Dined with Dr. Brinton & Napheys. Off for N.Y. at 6.45. Wrote Mr. Camp. In N.Y. at 11. Stopped at Astor House. Busy scene in Broadway. Mailed sermon, letter to Fred. Retired at 1.30.
