(Hartford) Up at 8.15, far from well. Batch of letters to be answered. Read them and looked over papers. Balanced cash. Wrote a while. Miss Charlotte Ely & Kitty Camp called. Alice and children went downtown. Sent eight S.S. letters & telegrams and five others. Retired at 11.15. Dr. Hunt called before tea. In evening received photograph and letter from Franklin Allen.
