(Hartford) Up at 7.30. Christmas morning, children had happy time receiving & giving presents. Downtown after breakfast. Called at post-office & book-stores, also at Steele's. Met Gen. Hawley. Off with Alice at 1pm for Greenwich. Stopped at Stamford. Mailed letter to Fred. Reached Greenwich on "Norwalk Special" at 4.15. Stopped at Slosson's. Dined at 5. Out to Christmas festival at Congl. ch. in evening. Spoke there. Pleasant time. Wrote awhile on sermon after exercises at church. Retired at 12. Tel'd Marsh.
