(Hartford) Up at 8.30. Pleasant day. Worked at essay all forenoon. Down to Fisher's at noon. Obtained new suit as refinished. Down with Alice to Park at 2pm at unveiling of Bishop Brownell's statue. Pleasant and memorable occasion. Went thence with Govs. Jewell & Hawley to 25th C.V. reunion at U.S. Hotel. Made address after dinner. Met ALice on way home. Called at Father's. Had talk about tobacco with Gurdon. Wrote on essay until 2am. Retired at 2.40. Sent eight S.S. letters and one other.
