(Hartford) Up at 7. Bright and beautiful day. Made ready for election parade. Called at Father's. At 11.15 started for downtown. Met horse coming up. Mounted and rode to Allyn House. Met Gen. Hawley, Gov. Perham, Gov. Claflin, and others. Off at 12 for parade. Johnny rode on Col. Burnham's staff. Rode with Col. Malloy as escort of Gov. Perham & council. Lunched at Gov. Jewell's room at 2.30. Home at 4.30. Met Ned Gallaudet and Mr. Draper on the way. At 7.15 went down with Johnny to Allyn House to supper given by Gov. Jewell's staff. Home again at 8.40. Met Ned. Back to Allyn House at 9.40. Raining. Spoke briefly. Home with Judge Carpenter. Sat with Johnny in parlor. Retired at 12.
