(Stonington, Ct.) Up at 7.30. Bright day. Made ready for service of day. Commenced letter to Fred. Out at 10.30. Preached Shoe sermon at Cong. Ch. Attended S.S. at noon in chapel. Took Bible class of ladies and discussed conscience as a rule of duty. Returned to Dr. Hyde's. Made ready after dinner for afternoon. Conducted Communion Service at Congl. Ch. at 3.30pm. Called at Uncle's and Mr. Stanton's. In evening addressed children and others in chapel of Congl. Ch. Told of my army life among those who showed power of early impressions, and of deaf-mute signs. Called at Mary Howe's. Met Committee at Dr. Hyde's. Talked over pulpit supply. Retired after talk with Dr. at 12.10.
