(Stonington, Ct.) Up at 6.50. Bright, cool morning. After breakfast called at old Mrs. Hyde's, Billy Pendleton's, Mrs. Dr. Palmer's and Mrs. Boardman's, and Mrs. Stiles Stanton's. Off at 9.35. Giles & Babcock, Uncle Frank & Erskine Phelps and wife on the train. At New London called on Mr. Haven. Talked about "Conscience". Off at 11.30 for New Haven. Erskine Phelps, Hon. J. T. Wait & Mr. Halsey on cars. At New Have at 1.50. Telegraphed to Mr. Bradley from Lyme. Dined at New Haven House. Called at Jarman's, and at Court Room - to watch canvass of 4th ward votes for Governor. Met Hawley. Off for home at 3.15. Took tea at Father's. Downtown after tea. Called at Courant office. Bought cravat with Johnny at Conklin's. Retired at 10.30. New furniture had come for Johnny's room. Talk with him about Sin and Temptation. Sent Fred a letter.
