(Hartford) Coldest day of season thus far. Fred went to church with Sophy on Asylum Hill. Kept housed trying to prepare for afternoon. Quite weak. At noon rode with Fred to East Hartford to Congl. Church. Took part in Anniversary and Review exercises. Addressed the congregation. Home with Fred and Smith. Intensely cold. Mercury from 10 to 2 below 0. Johnny and Fred with us at dinner at 4pm. Down with Johnny to Morgan St. to S.S. Concert. Spoke there on Water of Life. Home at 7.45. Fred's cold severe. Gave him cream of tartar. Warmed his bed. Made mustard plaster for him. Retired at 12.
