(Hartford) Up at 8.20. Johnny downtown before breakfast with telegrams. Wrote letters. Finished sketch of E. Hartford Review Exercises for Eggleston. Off at 2pm - after trip to post-office - to Springfield. Wrote T. H. Camp on cars. Met Dickerson at Holland's office. Called at Mrs. Merriam's. She & May out. Met Mr. Merriam. Called again at Holland's. Supped at Massasoit. Met Dr. Newton & Mr. Southworth. At 6.30 met Mr. Legaré from Boston. He stopped at Spring'd. I returned to Hotel by express train. (Johnny left for New Haven at noon. Returned at 9pm). Called at Father's. Gurdon called to tell me of his note to Annie. Talk with Johnny. Retired at 4.30.
