(Hartford) Slept until 10 o'clock. Bright and warmer day. Men at work on grounds. Talked with Alice and again with Johnny about his living with us. Wrote letters. Off at 2pm for Spring'd. Met Chas. Bartlett, Dr. Hastings & Mr. Hayden on cars. Holland still away. Left package there. Called at Mr. Merriam's. Mrs. M. in New York. May out. Called at Mr. M's office and had a chat. Again at his house, met May. Off at 6.30, after supper at Massasoit - for home. In Springfield advanced $25 to Dickerson & gave him $7 for maple sugar. Johnny & Sophy went to Prof. Lansbury's lecture. Retired at 11.30. Sent four S.S. letters & tel & one other.
