(Hartford) Up at 8.20. Washington's Birthday and Ash Wednesday. Gurdon called. Talked with him about Annie. Wrote awhile on letters. Commenced sermon on Light & Darkness. Early dinner. Called at Bartlett's. Off at 1.50 for Norwich. Met Jagger of Henron on cars. Made notes of reply to Father Bullard. Wrote on diary. Reached Norwich about 4.30. Called at Fred's office. Stopped at Wauregon. He with me. Called in evening on Ed. Trumbull & Miss Blackstone with Fred. Again at Ed. Trumbull's room in hotel. Long talk with Fred about business, young ladies, etc. Retired with him at hotel at 11.30.
