(Hartford) Up at 7.40. Bright day. Alice and Bridget Clancy left for California by 9.40 train. Made out monthly report to Phila. Worked on brackets for pictures and trinkets. Downtown after dinner. Obtained check for Knowles. Ordered mattress and pillows for Johnny's bed. Looked at straw matting. In evening, Johnny went to lecture with Sophy. Downtown to post-office. Called at Courant office. Had talk with Gov. Jewell about prospects of elections. Called at Father's. Balanced cash. Hung brackets. Retired at 12. Sent twenty S.S. letters and one other.
