(Hartford) Up at 6.45. At 8.15, Johnny was off for Winsted. At 10 went with Twichell to prize declamations and readings at High School. He sat as judge of readings. I of declamations. Sat all forenoon. Met with Committee of award at 12.40. Rainy noon and afternoon. Worked on sermon most of afternoon. Downtown to post-office. Called at furniture rooms. In evening, Johnny returned. Downtown with him. Again worked on sermon. Retired at 10.45. Sent four S.S. letters and two others.
