Friday, May 5, 1871

(Hartford) Up at 7.30. Still raining hard. Kept house all forenoon with Mr. Camp & Fred. Talked with them about Norwich affairs. Showed house to them. Dinner at 2. Called at Gurdon's studio. Mr. Camp bought a picture from Gurdon. Fred and his Father called on Mr. Tryon. Kitty Camp and her Father called. Mr. Camp off for East Hampton at 4.45. Down to post-office, Bliss, etc. with Johnny. Gave Alice her parasol. Paid Water Co.'s bill. Passed evening at home writing and chatting. Retired at 11. Sent three S.S. letters and telegrams.
